P S Balasubramanyam

P S Balasubramanyam is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and a member of the British Institute of Management, U.K. He began his career with Fraser and Ross — then a Deloitte affiliate — gaining the rigorous grounding in audit and financial controls that has defined his 40-year career.

Balasubramanyam held senior executive positions in the insurance industry and FMCG business sector across India, Europe, and the Gulf region. As Group Vice President – Finance of ACE Group (MENA & Europe), he oversaw finances across three direct general insurance companies, one risk management company, and one reinsurance broker — collectively the largest insurance intermediary in the Arab world. He subsequently served as Chief Financial Officer of Inchcape in the UAE.

In Bahrain, he founded Gulf Audit — which later became Grant Thornton Bahrain — before going on to establish Assure Consulting W.L.L. and Russell Bedford Assure Audit. Today the Assure Group is a 42+ member firm spanning audit, risk, finance, human capital, tax, and corporate services, and the exclusive Russell Bedford International member firm in Bahrain since 2018.

He is a trusted advisor to some of the region's largest insurance groups, having personally drafted the AML Policy Manual on behalf of the Bahrain Insurance Association for 22 insurance companies across Bahrain and KSA, in coordination with the Central Bank of Bahrain. His practice has prepared policies and procedures manuals for virtually every major insurance company in Bahrain and across MENA.
